What we correct
We correct factual errors in names, dates, places, numbers, quotations, descriptions, and material details. We also correct meaningful omissions when new evidence shows important context was missing.
Corrections and clarifications
A correction fixes wrong information. A clarification makes wording clearer without changing the facts. We label both when readers could be misled. We do not change accurate coverage because someone dislikes it.
Response times
We review credible reports promptly. Urgent errors that could cause harm receive priority. Confirmed errors are usually corrected within one business day. Complex claims may take longer while the editor checks records and sources.

What happens after a report
The editor records the concern, checks original notes and source material, and asks the reporter for context when needed. A request is not automatically a correction; evidence must support a change.
Why openness matters
A correction protects readers and the people described in a story. It also helps the newsroom learn. We look for patterns, improve checking steps, and share useful context when a mistake reveals a wider misunderstanding.

We welcome good-faith reports, investigate them carefully, and publish confirmed corrections without defensiveness or delay. Reader follow-up
If you send supporting documents, explain what they show and identify the relevant passage. We protect confidential information as far as practical, but cannot promise publication or a particular outcome. We will not disclose a source without permission except where required by law.

For a material correction, we update the story and add a visible note describing what changed. We do not quietly rewrite a disputed fact. Minor spelling fixes may not need a note.
